THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING VOCABULARY
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Vocabulary is a fundamental component of overall language proficiency, and its acquisition is essential for effective and appropriate communication, particularly in an era where modern technologies have a significant influence on education. Employing a mixed-method approach (a structured questionnaire and a semi-structured interview), this article aims to explore the utilisation of modern technologies in the process of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teaching and learning from the standpoint of both EFL learners and instructors, with a particular focus on vocabulary acquisition. Further, the manner in which EFL teachers integrate digital technologies to practice and develop the vocabulary of English learners is also investigated, along with identifying some formidable challenges in this regard. As digital technologies become increasingly integrated into educational frameworks, understanding their impact on language learning is essential. The research highlights the effectiveness of smartphone applications and digital tools in enhancing learner engagement, ease of learning, and motivation. While teachers emphasise the importance of flexibility and its motivating effect on their learners, it is also necessary to address challenges that arise from disparities in digital literacy among educators, such as technical issues or a lack of teacher training. Through a review of existing literature and empirical findings, the study underpins the potential for technology to democratize language learning, yet underscores the necessity for effective teacher training and the careful selection of appropriate applications. The findings aim to provide valuable insights for both EFL educators and learners, contributing to improved language instruction in the digital age. The article concludes that further investigation in this domain is imperative to provide additional insights into this continuously evolving matter.
