The basic objective of each company is to set the main goal and individual sub-goals to achieve that goal. Therefore, it is essential for an enterprise to develop a strategy at the outset of its activities to achieve its individual goals and thereby ensure market leadership. The business environment is widespread. It consists of two main parts, the internal environment and the external environment. The external environment represents a more distant environment for the enterprise, in which individual environments are monitored, such as demographic environment, technological environment, political environment, natural environment, ecological environment, or even cultural environment. Based on this breakdown of environments, an enterprise can create various analyzes, such as STEP analysis. The company must also perceive the closer environment of the company, the so-called sector environment, which includes individual substitutes, competing established companies, new competitors, suppliers or customers. All of these entities must be concentrated in order to gain market leadership. However, the internal environment of the company in which the company monitors its strengths and weaknesses should not be forgotten. The aim of this paper is to highlight the importance of monitoring the business environment in order to respond correctly and in a timely manner to incoming opportunities or threats, thereby ensuring progress towards the company's main objective.
