La présente communication se donne pour but de présenter bri?vement l'écrivain Jan Čep dans son exil français entre 1948-1951. Le portrait de l'émigré Jan Čep en France permet de voir comment celui-ci vit le changement radical de statut d'un des importants écrivains tch?ques de l'entre-deux-guerres a l'individu sans privil?ges et influence. Hormis les difficultés matérielles et psychologiques, les probl?mes d'insertion dans la société, etc., l'attention est portée sur les effets de l'exil sur la création littéraire de Čep qui abandonne dorénavant l'écriture des fictions pour se consacrer aux essais. Bien que ce portrait de l'émigré nous montre un homme profondément bouleversé et un écrivain anéanti et incompris, il n'en est moins que Čep se présente aussi en homme qui ne se résigne pas, qui est, malgré toutes les avanies, toujours a la recherche du sens profond de son expérience d'exil.

The article briefly presents the writer Jan Čep in his French exile between 1948 and 1951. The portrait of the emigrant Jan Čep in France allows us to observe how he coped with the radical change of status from one of the most important Czech writers ofthe in-between-the-wars period into an individual without any privileges and influence. Apart from material and psychological difficulties, problems with the integration into the society, etc., attention is paid to the effects of the exile on Čep's literary creation who, from then on, gives up on fiction in order to exclusively pursue essays. Although this portrait of the emigrant shows us an anxious man as well as an utterly misunderstood and humiliated writer, it also shows Čep as a man who did not resign, and who, in spite of all hardships, does not cease to seek after the meaning of his exile experience.
