In this article I explain the phases, sources and methodology of my doctoral research, which aims to create a historical dictionary of the Italian bureaucratic language. My starting point has been the dictionary GRADIT (Great Dictionary of Italian), from which I have selected the entries marked as bureaucratic (tag burocr.). I then focused on building a corpus, which includes texts taken from the database of the Agenzia delle Entrate (AE). My goal is to provide the most recent (or the most significant) occurrence of the word in authentic texts. I will also include information and quotations demonstrating the use of the word in a historical perspective. In one or more final chapters I will note the most important phenomena that emerged during my research. This work can be useful to give an overview of the bureaucratic language in general and particularly of the language used by the AE.
