Adolescence begins with the onset of puberty which is manifested by hormonal and morphological body changes and brain development. In addition to puberty, adolescence encompasses a wider aspect of changes in cognitive, socio-emotional and identity formation sphere in interaction with context. Identification of how biological and psychological processes influence one another has intrigued the researchers over the decades. The literature is consisted to present an overview of the influence of puberty in adolescent development and its psychological significance in adolescent’s mental health.
