Dit artikel beschrijft de resultaten van een contrastief onderzoek dat zich richtte op de verschillen en overeenkomsten tussen Nederlandse combinaties van werkwoorden met vaste voorzetsels en hun Tsjechische equivalenten. Aangezien het gebruik van de juiste voorzetsels in de combinaties met werkwoorden tot de typische leerproblemen van Tsjechische studenten van het Nederlands als vreemde taal behoort, kunnen de resultaten van het onderzoek helpen de oorzaken van deze moeilijkheden op te helderen. De pilotstudie toonde aan dat de meerderheid van de Nederlandse constructies een equivalente constructie met een vast voorzetsel in het Tsjechisch hebben. Slechts meer dan een tiende van de Tsjechische equivalenten bevat geen voorzetsel. Het grotere probleem voor studenten kan het feit zijn dat één Nederlands voorzetsel kan corresponderen met meerdere Tsjechische voorzetsels en dat sommige Nederlandse werkwoorden worden gecombineerd met verschillende vaste voorzetsels.

This paper describes the results of a pilot contrastive study that focused on the differences and similarities between Dutch combinations of verbs with fixed prepositions and their Czech equivalents. Since the use of the correct prepositions in the combinations with verbs belongs to the typical learning problem of Czech students of Dutch as a foreign language, the results of the research can help clarify the causes of these difficulties. The pilot study showed that the majority of Dutch constructions have an equivalent construction with a fixed preposition in Czech. Only more than a tenth of the Czech equivalents do not contain a preposition. However, the bigger issue for students may be the fact that one Dutch preposition can correspond to several Czech prepositions and that some Dutch verbs are combined with various fixed prepositions.
