A grammar sketch of Siraya, a dormant Formosan (native Taiwanese) language. The sketch is based on gospel texts and a catechism which were translated by 17th century clergymen from the original Dutch. The Siraya language material is also important for comparative-historical linguistic purposes. Siraya is one of the Formosan languages, which historically split off very early from the Proto Austronesian stock language (6000 years ago).
