The chapter sums up preliminary results of a long-term project aiming at determining specific needs in teaching advanced English students at The Department of English of the Faculty of Education, Palacký University. The text parameters explored so far inthe project include syntactic complexity, the usage of finite and non-finite verb forms, noun phrase complexity, and the usage of punctuation. In the present chapter the nature of the corpus is explained together with the methods we use for its analysis, including Coh-Metrix 3.0 computational tool.
