Motor skills as a predictor of adaptive behavior of pupils - pilot study
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The level of motor skills is an important indicator of optimal child’s growth and development. The shortcomings in the area can cause gradual decrease of child’s activity in the school group, which negatively effects child’s adaptive behavior. The aim of the pilot study was to analyze the relationship between the level of motor skills and the ability to adapt on a given social group – school class. The research group obtained 110 pupils of primary school aged 9 – 11. The data about adaptive behavior skills was collected by Piers-Harris Children ´s Self-Concept Scale 2 (Piers & Herzberg, 2009). The level of motor skills was monitored by TGMD-2 test (Ulrich, 2000). The research was authorized by Ethical committee of pedagogical faculty in Olomouc and legal representatives of children confirmed agreement of participation in the research. It is necessary to examine this area, because the level of gross motor skills (locomotive and manipulative) could be one of the predictors of child’s adaptive behavior. The aimed development of motor skills in physical education at compulsory schooling could lead to development of pro-social behavior also in older age categories. The data was collected within the project IGA_PdF_2017_002.
