Physical activity of students in relation to popularitiy in the class
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The purpose of this study is to describe the current level and the pattern of physical activity and inactivity of adolescents and to describe popularity among classmates at school in relation to physical activity. We measured 27 girls [age 16.98 years (0.36), weight 55.13 kg (6.85)] and 24 boys [age 17.14 years (0.48), weight 66.92 kg (10.82)]. Energy expenditure was estimated by accelerometer Caltrac, the count of steps was estimated by pedometer Omron and activity and inactivity patterns were assessedby self-report. Popularity was determined using the method of comparative point assignment. There is a low level of active energy expenditure due to insufficient moderate and vigorous activity. Boys (girls) spend about 4.8 (4) hours sitting in school. They spend less than 2 hours per day watching TV and sitting at the computer. Students who are more popular among their schoolmates are more physically active too, particularly during the weekend.
