The financial performance of small and medium-sized food processing businesses is lagging behind the performance of comparable businesses entities from EU core countries. The aforementioned fact is consistent with encouragements for increasing quality of food production in the Czech Republic, such as the KLASA mark of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. This mark promotes extra quality foodstuffs and should help to producers increase added value of their production for consumers and consequently their profitability and competitiveness. The aim of the article is to identify key factors of financial performance of small and medium-sized food processing companies within the sector manufacturing of dairy products that have been awarded by KLASA mark and subsequently to identify similarities and dissimilarities in the area of financial performance within the industry benchmarks.
