Innovation activities of business entities are representing an effort for creating a complex utility for consumers by respecting needs of economic effectiveness. Food processing industry in the Czech Republic has faced changes mainly since the EU entrance. This industry attracts in that period not only public expenditures from EU policies for enhancing quality standards, but also foreign direct investments. The main assessor of food production quality is considered to be the consumers. Currently, there are initiatives driven by the Czech Republics' authorities against dual quality of food production in the EU. Aim of this article is to reveal differences of financial performance among food producers, focusing on innovative and non-innovative businesses covered in the EU Community Innovation Survey 2016, considering the financial performance, measured by Turnover and Value added for production to be a proxy for the production quality development as a path of qualitative growth within financial performance of food manufacturers.
