Introduction. Flavonoids are one of the groups of secondary metabolites that are synthesised via phenylpropanoid metabolic pathway. They are widely distributed in plants where play many functions, such as ecological (flower pigmentation) and especially protective (against UV radiation as well as against pathogenic fungi and bacteria). Range of their biological activities is extremely wide and includes antioxidant capability as well as anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial or antidiabetic activities [1, 2]. Pomiferin, isopomiferin and osajin (prenylated isoflavones), isolated from different parts of Derris malaccensis (Leguminosae) and osage orange, Maclura pomnifera (Moraceae) possess biologically significant properties; particularly, their antidiabetic and antioxidant capabilities are of great interest [3].
