The effect of feeding chicken during transport
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This study was conducted to determine the effect of feeding 1d old chickens from young parent flock during transport from hatchery to commercial farm for short and long distance. Two parameters body temperature in cloaca and yolk sac utilization were investigated. In hatchery the birds were divided into two groups - fed and starved during the transport. For fed groups 2g feed per bird was provided to transport crates (200g per one transport crate). Body temperature and live weight were measured in the hatchery and on the farms by infrared thermometer Braun IRT TermoScan 4520th. At fourth day of age after decapitation the yolk sacks were weighed. The feeding during short transport (140km) did not have any effect on both temperature and weight of chickens. Feeding during long distance (290km) had positive effect on chickens body temperature (P<0.05).
