The aim of the analytical-synthetic study is to provide information about the current state of lifelong learning in the Czech Republic. First, attention is focused on the evaluation of general importance of education in human life and the specification of trends in education with an overlap to lifelong learning. In the following section, the occurrence of the idea of lifelong learning in strategic and curriculum documents is described, the participation of the Czech population in lifelong learning is assessed and compared with other European Union countries, and providers of continuing education--with an emphasis on public educational institutions --are classified. Another important part is the evaluation and assurance of quality of continuing education, which among other things introduces the national project Concept.
