Glycerol as source of energy in broiler chicken fattening
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The main objective of this study was to verify the possibility of replacing soybean oil in a diet with glycerol, and investigate the effect of glycerol on performance parameters and health in broiler chickens. The substitution of soybean oil with glycerol resulted in changes in the content of some nutrients (particularly amino acids and fatty acids) in feeding mixtures. On 15, 32 and 38 day of age chickens of both genders in the G group that were fed with feeding mixtures containing glycerol showed statistically significantly higher (P ? 0.01) mean live weight as compared to the control group. At the end of the experiment, the mean weight of chickens in the C group was 2.078 kg, whereas the mean weight of chickens in the G group was 2.341 kg. The overall consumption of feeding mixtures within 38 days of fattening was 3.588 kg (C1) and 4.011 kg (G1) in females, 3.915 kg (C2) and 4.366 kg (G2) in males, i.e. it was higher in experimental chickens. Feed conversion in chickens in experimen
