Characterization of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolated from food chain in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an important cause of zoonotic and human infections worldwide. It has been detected from various parts of the food chain and its transmission to humans has been described. The predominant livestock-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LAMRSA) in Europe belongs to the sequence type (ST)398 (clonal complex CC398). It has been also found in samples of food chain in the Czech Republic. The aim of this study was to investigate the properties of MRSA of animal origin isolated from food chain in the Czech Republic. Altogether 37 MRSA strains (31 isolates of ST398 from pigs and 6 non ST398 from cattle) were tested. Spa, sequence type, antimicrobial resistance and presence of some virulence genes were detected in all the MRSA isolates. 3 MLST types were detected. All isolates from pigs belonged to a sequence type ST398, isolates from cattle to ST1 and ST361. The isolates from sequence type ST398 were heterogenous and consi
