The MENTIO computer programmes are a specially created utility with several modules aimed at developing or restoring cognitive, language, perceptual and motor abilities. Originally meant to be implemented in work with adults with acquired disorders, especially aphasia, they can now be used with children, too. The variety of the suite's modules, developed over more than ten years in response to the demands od speech therapy professional, provides for a broad spectrum of its application. However, the evaluation of the practical benefits of using this therapeutic tool encounters a number of obstacles, especially due to the extreme complexity and limited validity od the results observed in the course of our research aimed at measuring the effectiveness ofthe programmes. The detailed resord of several therapeutic sessions with a group of five children attending the clinical speech therapy unit at the Hradecká special school in Hradec Králové provides a compact set of data on the applicatio
