In the past years a lot of university departments started dealing with applying ICT into university educational process and further education. After piloting projects now it is time to widen the use of e-learning. Because of lack of knowledge, financialmeans or distrust in commercial study environments several departments started developing their own LMSs. On the other hand because of growing number of users and their requirements most of educational institutions incline to the use of professional LMSsthat make creating and running courses easier. There is a great number of LMSs on the market nowadays and this article aims at facilitating customer's orientation via summarizing basic characteristics of those which are most frequently used at Czech andSlovak universities.
