The aim of the current mixed-method study was to examine gendered aspects of workplace bullying in a transforming Czech academia. The research revealed a contradiction between qualitative and quantitative data. Quantitative questionnaire survey in a sample of 1,533 university employees showed no significant gender differences in the incidence and forms of bullying, except for a higher prevalence of men among bullying perpetrators. By contrast, qualitative analysis of interviews with targeted academics made visible the specificity of women?s experiences with bullying. In this presentation, the authors employ an intersectional perspective to show on specific case studies of bullied academics how the intersecting categories of gender, sexuality, age, andstages in the life cycle make women academics particularly vulnerable to bullying. As a conclusion, the authors discuss the implications of their findings for gender-sensitive prevention and intervention in academic bullying.
