Die Studie analysiert die literarischen Welten von Karl-Markus Gauß und Martin Pollack. Mit Hilfe einer vergleichenden Analyse werden Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede ihrer Konzeptualisierung von Europa erforscht. Als methodologische Grundlage dient die Symbiose von “Literatur und Wissen”, die eine Gattungssubstanz der Werke der Autoren darstellt. Ein Augenmerk wird auch auf die literarische Darstellung des Raumes bei Pollack und Gauß gelegt, einschließlich der so genannten “kartographischen Poetik”. Den Kern der Studie bildet eine räumlich-semantische Analyse der Region Gottschee (Kočevje) im heutigen Slowenien, die im literarischen Schaffen der beiden Autoren eine wichtige Rolle spielt.

The study analyzes literary worlds created by Karl-Markus Gauß and Martin Pollack. With the help of a comparative analysis common features and differences of their conceptualization of Europe are researched. The symbiosis of “literature and knowledge”, which constitutes a genre substance of the authors' works, serves as a methodological basis. Attention is also paid to literary rendering of space by Pollack and Gauß, including so called “cartographic poetics”. The core of the study is a spacial- semantic analysis of Gottschee (Kočevje) region in today's Slovenia, which plays an important role in the literary output of both the authors.
