Swift Water Training for Operation and Rescue Missions (STORM) Ranch Houston: Hydraulic Modelling Study
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) developed a Froude-scaled hydraulic model based on the design proposed by Calibre Engineering (Calibre) for the Swift Water Training for Operation and Rescue Missions (STORM) Ranch in Houston, Texas. This modeling study, using Froude similitude, included a scaled model of the entire training facility at a 1:20 length scale, allowing for evaluation and optimization of the flow characteristics in the proposed water rescue training center. The model accurately represents the proposed design of the three main channels, using a scale that reliably provides both visual and measurable hydraulic data, including flow velocities, flow depths, water surface morphology, and wave and stopper shapes and sizes. The study was used to refine the channel geometry and to develop optimized RapidBloc obstacle layouts tailored to the proposed flow scenarios in individual compartments. As a result, several modifications were made to the geometry of the whitewater sections of the artificial river channels, along with the development of optimal obstacle configurations for various rescue scenarios.
