This paper deals with the development of a deformation element designed to be used in transportation industry. The aim is to develop a design of thermoplastic composite that will begin to warp under considerable impact loading and thus ensure a high energy absorption. Experimental quasi-static and dynamic (impact) tests of composite parts vlnovec are used to verify the capability of the proposed structure along with the determination of appropriate materials that ensure high energy absorption. Further,the paper studied the influence of manufactoring technology of the specimens with respect to the absorbed energy during quasi-static and impact loading. Experimental data obtained from the tests are then evaluated and compared with the visual records where failure mechanisms are identified and also their influence on the function of the deformation element. The test results will also be used for the verification of finite element models, which aim to simplify design of the deformation pa
