We will present approaches related to long-term autonomy of autonomous vehicles. These are applied in a universal and robust teach-and-repeat system (https://github.com/gestom/stroll_bearnav/) that can gradually adapt its perception (https://github.com/gestom/grief) and mapping (https://github.com/gestom/stroll_bearnav/wiki/IROS-2019-submission-5-supporting-materials) to deal with the changes of environment. We will show that the environment changes observed during long-term operation are a rich source of information that can make the visual navigation more reliable and robust. The presented system achieved reliable operation in adverse conditions, including night and drastic environment changes, including day-to-night transitions.
