Treatment of solid leather waste by enzymatic degradation
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Our work investigates the treatment of cut-off leather waste by means of an enzyme. Cut-offs was withdrawn from shoe plants in The Czech Republic and were cutted and milled using cutting A 3-step treatment of milled cut-offs was applied in: 1. Pre-treatment of milled cut-offs in an alkali environment created by KOH and MgO 2. After adjustmet the pH of the mixture to the value of 9.0 commercial enzyme Alcalase was added and under defined conditions enzyme hydrolysis was carried out. 3. pH of the mixturewas adjusted to a defined valueand 3. step of treatment in slightly acid environment followed. Finally, the reaction mixture was filtered out. Water soluble protein hydrolysate and insoluble residue (chrome cake) were subjected to the analysis for totalsolids, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, inorganic solids and chromium. It was found out that under optimal conditions of enzymatic hydrolysis of leather cut-offs it is possible to achieve 73% hydrolysis of protein (expressed as amount of nitroge
