The idea of the need for a holistic approach to the education of people for managerial competence was addressed years ago by K. Čapek through his comments on wisdom, rationality and brightness. Three words: Brightness ? Intelligence ? Wisdom. All three denote a certain intellectual ability ? humans can put intelligence into each piece of work; they can attain it through their work. However, wisdom still ranks above every individual piece. Intelligence is in the act, but wisdom is in survival. The wisdomof a man is connected with his qualities, and especially his character. You can recognise an intelligent man by what he knows and a wise and honourable man by his good turns . ?I believe that the new millennium will become the age of wisdom ? whether due to circumstances leading man to modesty and humility or thanks to his conscience or the combination of both?. Five stages are recognised in the development of civilisation. In the era of hunters, their instruments were bows and arrows.
