Pupils' Learning Aspirations and the Perceived Influence of Their Parents
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
At early school age, children’s learning aspirations as requirements on the difficulty of objectives in regard to results in learning are significantly determined by the actions of their parents. This empirical study presents the results of our research survey, whose objective was to ascertain what learning aspirations pupils declare, how they perceive the action of their parents in their determination, and we were also interested in pupils’ preferred hobbies and professions. A 55-item scaled questionnaire was proposed for the research plan, which after validation came to 27 statements. 332 pupils in lower level elementary school aged 7 – 12 years filled in the questionnaire, having been chosen by selecting accessible schools in the East Bohemia and Moravia region. The research conclusions suggest that early school age pupils have learning aspirations at a level corresponding to their development and socialisation opportunities, appearing to be relatively high. For the pupils investigated, it is important to achieve good results in school, and they perceive their parents to have the same attitude.
