Managerial competencies and metadata standards within citizen science projects
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This paper begins to analyze user competencies within frameworks of citizen science projects. The authors focus mainly on metadata standards set by established citizen science initiatives (such as ALA’s BioCollect, SciStarter, GBIF, etc.) upon which a comparative analysis was conducted. Our goal is to identify key concepts used in the managerial competencies embedded in the metadata sets as well as to propose further integration among other citizen science projects. The results of our study show a high fragmentation among metadata standards, especially in terms of the scale of managerial competences integrated with justification of and recommendations for universal project management competency standards and practices among citizen science initiatives. Our long-term project should prove to have an impact in regard to competency prioritization. The present paper is based on state-of-the-art research conducted under the European Union COST Action CA15212 (Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy and innovation throughout Europe).
