Motivation of Czechs for Careers in EU Institutions

The main goal of the research project is to determine the motivation of Czechs in seeking employment in the various EU institutions, and to study the factors that influence this motivation. The research project will also include an analysis of the current awareness of Czechs about career opportunities in EU institutions and study the sources of this information about possible EU careers among the general population in order to ascertain whether there could be more appropriate channels for communicating about career opportunities in the EU institutions. One of the outcomes of this project will be a proposed webpage dedicated to the presentation of EU careers for Czech professionals, which will be designed based on lessons learned during this research project. In order to reach the stated outcome of the research project, the research will also analyse the general availability, quality and completeness of information about EU careers in general. This analysis will be vital for the creation of the proposed webpage. This research project is important considering recent interest within the Czech political scene in promoting Czechs in EU institutions. Much of this interest has been generated during the successful organization of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2022, which also highlighted the relatively low representation of Czechs among EU institutional staff. The Czech general public has also positively viewed the recent Czech Presidency in the past year, which could potentially generate greater interest among professionals in seeking employment in EU institutions.
