Since 2013, I have utilised Data-Driven Learning (DDL) both as a student and educator. Alex's insights on integrating DDL activities into teaching Czech as a foreign language were invaluable. Notably, statistics revealing the prevalence of corpus-based studies in language teaching prompted me to investigate its integration into standard classroom activities. While Czech teachers initially hesitated, providing ready-to-use corpus-based exercises significantly increased their inclination towards DDL activities. My project involved designing custom exercises informed by learner errors in a corpus, effectively addressing student needs and reinforcing learning material. Seminars showcasing these exercises further demonstrated DDL's potential to educators, leading to the creation of a corpus workbook with over a hundred exercises. The increased interest in user-friendly corpus tools, such as those for Czech, has enhanced classroom experiences and facilitated independent learning. Building on Boulton's advocacy for collaborative DDL progression, I aim to make DDL more accessible to Czech teachers and learners across proficiency levels. This includes exploring patterns and variations in non-native Czech to refine teaching approaches and better understand learner language.
