Der vorliegende Beitrag schließt an laufende Diskussionen zum didaktischen Potenzial von Linguistic Landscapes (LL) für das Fremdsprachenlernen und -lehren an. Nach einer kurzen Erläuterung des Konzepts Linguistic Landscapes im sprachbildne rischen Kontext und einem Überblick über die Entwicklung des Einsatzes von LL im Fremdsprachenunterricht wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit LL für die Förderung der Motivation beim Fremdsprachenlernen wertvoll sind. Anschließend wird ein Beispiel für den Unterricht Deutsch als zweite Fremdsprache vorgestellt, das Lehrkräfte zum Ein satz von LL auch bei Jugendlichen mit geringeren Deutschkenntnissen anregen soll, um dadurch ihre Motivation zu fördern.

This article follows on ongoing discussions on the didactic potential of Linguistic Landscapes (LL) for foreign language learning and teaching. After a brief explanation of the concept of linguistic landscapes in the context of language teaching and an overview of the development of the use of LL in the classroom, the question of the extent to which LL are valuable for promoting motivation in foreign language learning is explored. Subsequently, an example of teaching German as a second foreign language is presented, which should encourage teachers to use LL even with young people with a lower level of German.
