Important attribute of knowledge society is data holding and their transformation into information. Data related to demand and sale forecasting is the basic enter data of this process. Demand forecasting forms basic keystone for strategic, tactic and operative decision making of the company. The volume of its exploitation in planning can have fundamental influence on effective management of material flow within company or within the whole supply chain. Systems managed by real demand begin to assert themselves in present very variable market environment. Demand knowledge derived from obtained data and factors knowledge which influence on it allow to company management to react flexibly on demand change, more effectively to plan marketing operations, toincrease availability of products on the market, to increase the level of customers service and to develop thus competitive advantage.
