At the present time we are witnessing the process of global reform in education. This especi-ally concerns education in the natural sciences. One of the most important features of this process is an approach to education as an independent construction ofknowledge. In this re-port the basic aspects of constructivist conception of education in natural sciences are discus-sed. Educational process is described as an interaction of four factors: teacher, student, edu-cational process and contents of education. One of basic demands of transformation is to sub-stitute the recent conception of teaching with the model, which considers the student as an active and autonomous person. The constructivist approach in education prescribes a com-pletely different role for teachers and students in the educational process. The teacher beco-mes a manager, mentor, helper. Students are active components. They independently search for, classify, analyse, rate, and criticise information. They discuss their
