La théorie des prototypes est bien opérationnelle dans le domaine de l?analyse textuelle du discours : une occurrence concr?te d?une unité textuelle peut ?tre décrite en référence aux schéma prototypique de la séquence textuelle, m?me si le degré de typicité de cette unité est relativement bas. Les rôles pragmatiques des structures syntaxiques que nous analysons dans notre article se constituent dans le cadre de la séquence textuelle. Nous insistons sur le fait que les fonctions argumentatives des connecteurs sont inséparables de leurs fonctions textuelles.

The concept of prototype is very operational for the textual analysis of discourse ? the concrete occurrences of textual units can be successfully described in reference to the prototypical scheme of a textual sequence even if the degree of typicality ofthe unit being described is quite low. The syntactic structures of the short passage of the Romance of the Rose by Jean de Meun we studied in this paper have a specific and interesting function in argumentation, their pragmatic role appear clearly whenthis structures are analyzed as a part of a textual sequence. Our analysis pointed out that the argumentative function of connectors is inseparable of the textual one.
