By comparing and contrasting the lexicons of the Australian and Czech mathematics teachers we indicate the variation possible within two Western teaching communities with different traditions, in relation to classroom practice, and different lexico-grammatical forms and features. A comparison of both content and organisational structure revealed differences in classroom phenomena named; organisation of lexical terms by each teaching community.
