Measuring Competences of Commanders in the Czech Armed Forces

The paper deals with a research tool for measuring the managerial competences of the Czech Armed Forces commanders. Resulting from the expert assessment of the commanders working at the tactical and operational military units, ten key competences were specified and their content was defined. Five indicators were assigned to each competence and a questionnaire containing fifty statements was created. Each statement was assigned a five-point scale according to the Czech school grading scale. The questionnaire was distributed and tested using three groups of respondents, i.e., by participants of lifelong learning at the University of Defence, in particular, participants of the General Staff course, the senior officers' course and graduates of the basic officers' course. The paper also presents the main results of the conducted research.
