Regarding current trend in organisations to retain quality and knowledge employees who would be able to provide high performance in long-term and support organisational competitive advantage, more and more organisations orient themselves on continual employee development and talent management. To reveal current situation in mentioned area, primary research on employee development in agriculture and forestry was driven. The aim of the paper is to describe and identify approaches to talent management anddevelopment in selected organisations in the Czech Republic and to analyse those approaches to evaluate the situation and formulate suggestions. The data were collected in 101 organisations operating in rural economy by CAWI and CATI method. The sample selection took into account the size of the organisation. Only respondents from upper or top management were answering the questionnaire. One respondent per organisation was questioned. The primary data were evaluated using the tools of de
