A quality education system is one of the main pillars in a prosperous society, which to a great extent affects socio-economic processes. Here, universities play an irreplaceable role, primarily teacher education faculties, which prepare future teachers for this demanding and responsible profession. Their role is even more important at the time, when the education system in the Czech Republic is significantly underfinanced and the teaching profession is losing its positive social status. The situation is even more complicated in disciplines where graduates have a high chance of finding a job in the commercial sector, such as teachers of foreign languages, natural sciences and informatics. The paper focuses on motivation as one of the key tools guiding our behaviour and conduct in achieving defined goals in case of future teachers of subjects connected with informatics.
