Three different kinds of images can be measured: colour, binary or so-called mask image. A wide spectrum of different objectives, microscopes, cameras and lighting systems enables the measurement of partickles with different size range from several centimetres to microns. The LUCIA system enables capture of colour pictures off different objects, thus it can be useful for observation and determination of different breakage mechanisms of particles and crystals. Strength of sucrose crystals depends on manyparamenters, such as crystal size, size distribution, composition, moisture content and the technology of crystallization process. Depending on the force applied and its directon, we can describe different breakage mechanisms.
