The subject of the result is a description of the "Follow the Vehicle" assistance system, based on the principle of two vehicles and one driver. The superior vehicle (Master), which is driven by a human, determines the driving parameters, which are speed, acceleration, direction, route (path) and destination. The data related to steering wheel movements, acceleration and braking are received by the slave car (Follower) by wireless transmission from the master car. The Follower follows the master vehicle at a distance of up to 10 m. Before starting the journey, the two cars are identified to each other via a digital code. The ŠKODA SUPERB iV test cars that were used are equipped with additional hardware and software for control, regulation, communication and display of operating parameters. The vehicles monitor the traffic infrastructure and transfer data and information via Car2Car communication. The data exchange itself is done via the IEEE 802.11p standard, ETSI ITS-G5. The ŠKODA SUPERB iV vehicles use sensor systems in the form of a camera system, radar and a communication unit to recognise images and identify 3D objects. The systems monitor the car's surroundings and current traffic in real time. The "Follow the Vehicle" experimental cars work with a wide range of data, such as the current position of the vehicle and other driving-related parameters. The deliverable includes a vehicle interface analysis tool allowing the analysis of an existing vehicle interface, its design or the creation of a functional copy of it, which is implemented in the vehicle simulator for a deeper understanding and the possibility to improve further designs of these interfaces. The information found is then interpreted in the context of the experiment and further serves as input for interface design iterations or as detection of operationally problematic elements of production systems. The research task produced a set of specific scenarios for use on the developed advanced CTU simulators.
