Het Nederlandse woord even kan verschillende functies met verschillende betekenissen in de zin vervullen. In het artikel wordt er nader gekeken naar de betekenissen en equivalenten van het woord even in de relatie Nederlands-Tsjechisch, aan de hand van meer dan 1.500 excerpten uit het meertalige parallelle corpus InterCorp. Dit corpus maakt het mogelijk om het gebruik van dit woord (als bijvoeglijk naamwoord, bijwoord of modaal partikel) in een bredere context te onderzoeken en de verschillen en/of parallellen tussen beide talen beter te begrijpen.

The Dutch word even has a number of meanings and can fulfill various functions in the sentence. This article presents a description of the meaning of the Dutch word "even" and their Czech equivalents excerpted from the multilingual parallel corpus InterCorp. It is based upon the analysis of more than 1.500 examples of the usage of "even" (as an adjective, adverb or a modal particle) in the Dutch literary texts, which were translated into Czech. The corpus makes it possible to conduct an analysis of thefunctioning of "even" in a much wider context than the dictionary equivalents. It also helps to better understand the differences and parallels in both the languages.
