Das Kapitel setzt sich erstens mit der deutschmährischen Literatur des späten 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts auseinander, welche sich ihrer formalen bzw. thematischen Seite nach den Strömungen der sog. ästhetischen Moderne zuordnen lässt; zweitens hebt es Spezifika hervor, durch die sich die sog. Mährische Moderne (Eugen Schick) von den zeitgenössischen Berliner, Münchner und Wiener Literaturen unterscheidet – das häufige Vermischen naturalistischer Schreibweisen mit den Elementen der Dekadenz und der Wiener Moderne und die in den Texten dominierenden Familienmodelle, welche anders als die deutsche Literatur dieser Zeit, wo v.a. der Vater-Sohn-Konflikt dominiert, stark die Rolle der Mutter thematisieren.

The chapter deals firstly with the German Moravian literature of the late 19th and early 20th century which can be according to its formal and thematic aspects associated to the aesthetic modernity; secondly, it emphasizes specifics that distinguish the so-called Moravian Modernism (Eugen Schick) from contemporary Berlin, Munich and Viennese Modernism: the frequent mingling of naturalistic style of writing with the elements of decadence and Viennese Modernism and, equally important, the family models dominating in the texts examined, which unlike the German literature of this time, where especially the father-son conflict in a bourgeois family dominates, strongly accentuate the working class family and the role of the mother.
