Intercultural aspects in the context of virtual teams’ lifecycle
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Although it is still not clear how the Covid-19 pandemics will reshape the global economic landscape, one of the possible scenarios is the tendency to intensify the virtual nature of global work. The consequences of the measures taken by national governments to mitigate the impact of the pandemics confirmed that virtual work is an adequate alternative to collaborate globally. In this light, this conceptual article explores the current body of knowledge in relation to practices of establishing global virtual teams. Specifically, this article focuses on the lifecycle of virtual teams and how the intercultural aspects of the virtual teams’ management are taken into consideration in this lifecycle. The contribution introduces three models of team lifecycle. Then, the article deals with the selection of team members and training as these two areas were identified as the most relevant to the phases of the introduced models. The identified concepts contribute to a better understanding of global virtual teams as a very topical phenomenon and can serve, for example, as a starting point for future research projects.
