The article is devoted to the study of the internal form, semantics, pragmatics and the actual usage of gestures in phraseology in terms of linguistic and cultural contacts. At the center of attention here are the stable phraseological units with the component &quot;fig&quot; in Ukrainian and Russian phraseology. The history of the gesture, its symbolism, its role as a part of the phraseological units, semantics and the specific usage of it has been studied here on the material of compared linguocultures.
