The paper presents outputs of a study in the field of special education. We analysed the factors that help the teachers understand the inner world of students with multiple disability. The mental disability combined with physical, perceptual and communication disabilities, is a very restrictive psychosocial barrier for education and interaction with these students. The main restriction is the limited understanding of the cognitive world of students with severe multiple disability. Authors studied factors that help to understand the students. Both qualitative and quantitative methodology was used. The data was collected through qualitative interviews and statistical analyses of a questionnaire survey. Then several categories of factors were suggested and critically reflected by teachers as well as academic collegues.
