Educational Standards in Health Education in the Czech Republic

Health education has been included in the system of elementary education of the Czech Republic since the development of the curricular document entitled Framework educational programme for elementary education (education has followed this document since1 September 2007). In order to ensure uniform quality of education for all pupils, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic started to develop Educational standards. The standards were developed according to the results of international research studies TIMSS and PISA, which pointed to worsening results of pupils in the Czech Republic. The development of the standards was also recommended by the 2012 OECD Report on results assessment. The standards should be formulated at a minimum level in compliance with the Framework educational programme for elementary education, version 2013. At present, detailed methodology is being developed for the published Educational standards of Health education. The objective of the
