Edge effects of the Gasser-Muller estimator

Kernel smoothing provides a simple way how to find structure in the data. The idea of kernel smoothing can be applied to a simple fixed design regression model using the Gasser-Müller estimator. This article is focused on edge effects of Gasser-Müller estimator. By edge effects we mean deterioration of nonparametric estimate quality unknown regression function constructed near the edge points. Presented reflection technique for kernel of the second order gives a good instrument to make an estimate better. The reflection technique has an influence on the estimate outside edge points.
