Anuria with subsequent urometra caused by basaloid carcinoma obstructing pelvic canal in a rabbit
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A four-year-old intact female rabbit (1.36 kg) was presented to the clinic for acute abdominal distension. Clinical examination, radiography, abdominal ultrasound and computed tomography examination revealed cachexia (BCS 1/5), dehydration and the presence of large intraabdominal tubular masses (5-15 cm in diameter) filled with hypoechogenic and hypodens fluid. In the pelvic area, a large echogenic mass with calcifications obturated pelvic canal, compress the uretra and more than 0.5 l of urine with urine sediment was found in the uterus. Laboratory analyses showed plasmatic elevation of glucose (12 mmol/l; normal value 4.2-8.6 mmol/l), urea (13 mmol/l; normal value 4.6-10.4 mmol/l) and progesterone (0.9 ng/ml; normal value 0.11-0.46 ng/ml). The patient underwent exploratory laparotomy, but due to the inoperable mass within the pelvic canal was euthanized. Histopathological examination revealed a basaloid carcinoma. This is a well-documented case of anuria caused by urethral obstructio
