Chemical composition of muscles from fattened chickens and ducks fed diets based on lupin meal
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The current concept in agricultural production has a long-term goal, which is focused on the cultivation and production of domestic protein commodities and their use in compound feeds intended for nutrition of food animals. From our point of view, the seeds from cultural crops of Lupinus genus are promising because of their high crude protein content. Lupin seed meal is a promising protein component for compound feed. Therefore, our goal was to verify the possibility of using lupin seed meal as a substitute for soybean meal in compound feeds for broiler chickens and ducks and to find out whether this substitute would affect the nutritional value of their muscles. Analysis of breast and femoral muscle of fattened chickens and ducks suggests that substitution of soybean meal by lupin seed meal did not adversely affect the muscle composition of their carcass. From a dietetic point of view, it is positive to note that following the administration of experimental diets with lupin meal, the fat content in the muscle decreased, and with it the reduction in the gross energy content in the muscle was observed.
