VERIFICATION OF LAG-TIME OF PELLETS WITH CONTROLLED RELEASE OF GLUCOSE DURING VARIOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The aim of the work was to verify the stability of lag-time glucose in the conditions of varied load during all-day physical activity of adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus. The programme was part of the comprehensive TAČR GAMA 2015-16 “Verification of lag-time pellets with controlled release of glucose TG02010020-1 (FN)” project. Its purpose was development and application of pellets enabling sequential and predictable glucose release to prevent and compensate for hypoglycaemic conditions and enabling to reduce saccharides intake of type 1 DM people with an active lifestyle. The implementation was carried out in two crucial phases: development and verification of lag-time pellets in vitro and verification of the effect of the physical load of heterogeneous character on lag-time pellets with controlled release of glucose in vivo. The aim of our work in the 2nd phase of the project was to create a movement programme enabling verification of an impact of physical load on the lag-time of pellets (240 min) to prevent hypoglycaemic states of sporting youth and of the possibilities of energy cover of the load with the use of lag-time sugars. The programme intentionally used various forms and courses of daily load of the monitored persons and respected the age level of the group as well as the state of physical readiness of the probands. The group consisted of 8 observed persons with DM (boys) aged 13 to 20 with somatic parameters: weight 68.75±16.25 kg, height 173.5±11.5 cm, BMI 22.25±4.55. The methods included breath tests for the subsequent verification of glucose release in the body through exhaled 13CO2, Ruffier fitness test to determine physical readiness of the body, selected Unifittest 6-60 (Cooper run, jump from place and sit-ups). The programme included 3 days of varied movement activities with graded intensity as the initial phase of clinical testing, using atypical sports, activities with the involvement of mental processes in the performance and speed-endurance character with high physical and mental demands were also used, with strong fluctuations in heart rate. The results have shown that the character of movement activities does not influence the lag-time of the designed pellets and pointed to the expected independent use of “functional food” in the process of the energetic cover of movement activities. The programme fit the given research project. The controlled movement programme enabled to verify the stability of lag-time glucose in the conditions of varied load during all-day movement activity of adolescents and young adults with type 1 DM.
